TIBET OVERLAND TOUR – 7 NIGHTS/8 DAYS (DRIVE IN FLY OUT)
Day 1: Kathmandu-Nyalam (3600m. & 153 km) Drive at 05:30 A.M. from Kathmandu via Dhulikhel to Kodari (China/Nepal border). Drive from Jhangmu (Chinese immigration) to Nyalam, enjoying beautiful scenes of hills and mountains.
Day 2: Nyalam-Lhatse (4050m. & 285k.m.) After having breakfast about 08:30AM, drive from Nyalam to Lhatse via LALUNGLA PASS (5050m.), enjoying view of Mt. Everest. Lhatse is a small but a beautiful Tibetan town situated in a velley.
Day 3: Lhatse-Xigatse (3950m. & 150km.) Drive from Lhatse to Xigatse via 5200 pass, TASILUMPO monastery visit, inside special attraction of future Buddha and different Panchen Lamas, about 800 monks living there.
Day 4: Xigatse-Gyanste (3950m. & 90km.) Drive from Xigatse to Gyantse through the fertile Xigatse valleyvisit to KHUMBUM monastery, stupa and castle, monastery includes huge collection of Tibetan and Sanskrit books of Buddhism. The stupa is very giant and has 13 stories with 115 rooms. The fort stands to protect the monastery and the stupa, however, some were damaged during the cultural Revolution.
Day 5: Gyantse- Lhasa (3600m. & 261km.) Drive from Gyantse to Lhasa crossing KAROLA (5010m.) pass through a beautiful Yamdrok Tso Lake that takes about two hours drive, only to pass the lake, and then you will get your ultimate destination.
Day 6: Sightseeing in the morning Potala palace, which was built on 7th century A.D.by the king Shrang Chang Gampo. However 5th Dalai Lama built white portion of palace in 17th century. After lunch you will visit Jokhang Temple, which lies at the center part of the city and has been worshipped as the most holy Buddha.
Day 7: Sight seeing, usually in this morning Norbulingka or Dalai Lama’s Summer Palace, which has occupied the big territory, and then you will see Sera monastery (famous horse Buddha, in the past there were about 5000 monks), as well as you will visit Deprung monastery and Barkhor Bazaar.
Day 8: Drive from Lhasa to airport (approximately 2 hours) and back to Nepal. you will have chance to observe Mt. Kanchanjanga (8585m.), Mt. Makalu (8463m.) and Mt. Everest (8848m.)
