The Kali Gandaki River, one of the most famous Himalayan rivers, originates in the high Mustang region on the Tibetan plateau, flowing through a deeply carved gorge between Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m) to the west and Annapurna I (8091m) to the east. Known for its challenging white-water rapids and cultural richness, the Kali Gandaki provides one of the most thrilling and scenic rafting experiences in Nepal. The river is considered particularly sacred and is named after the goddess Kali.
This rafting journey combines exciting rapids with breathtaking natural beauty and unique local culture. As you raft through this stunning landscape, you will encounter a series of exhilarating rapids, ancient villages perched above the river, and the majestic backdrop of the Annapurna mountain range.

One Day Rafting Itinerary
Day 01:
• 07:00 AM: Meet at the Aroma Nepal Treks office in Pokhara and store your valuables.
• Drive to Maldhunga: After a 2-hour drive, we arrive at the starting point. Our guides will give a safety briefing covering paddling techniques, river commands, and safety precautions.
• Rafting Begins: Start your rafting journey with 3 hours of thrilling rapids, including Little Brother (4+), Big Brother (4), Cave, Daze, and Dam rapids.
• Camping at Modi Beni: After rafting, we’ll camp at Modi Beni. Enjoy tea/coffee, snacks, and dinner while learning how to set up camp from the guide.
Day 02:
• Wake Up & Breakfast: Start your day with breakfast at 7:00 AM.
• Full Day Rafting: Spend the day paddling through exciting rapids like Waterfalls, Cobra, Double Bend, and Brain Den Fall.
• Camping: Reach the designated campsite for the night, where we’ll rest and relax after an exhilarating day on the water.
Day 03:
• Morning Rafting: After breakfast, enjoy 3 more hours of rafting.
• Takeout Point: Reach the takeout point at Mirmi Dam for a relaxing break and a hearty lunch.
• Drive Back to Pokhara: After packing up, drive back to Pokhara (approximately 4 hours). Collect your valuables at the Aroma Nepal Treks office.
Safety is our top priority, and we take great care to ensure that you have a secure and enjoyable rafting experience. Our professional guides, instructors, and safety kayakers are certified in water rescue, first aid, and Rescue 3 WRT training. All equipment used is world-class, regularly updated, and maintained for your safety.
To further minimize risk, we ensure:
- Safety Kayakers or double catamaran teams are used on every trip.
- Strict safety rules: Life jackets and helmets must be worn at all times in/on the river. No drugs, alcohol, assault, or diving off cliffs during the adventure.
- All guides speak fluent English to ensure clear communication during your adventure.
- Swimsuit and quick-drying clothes
- Sport sandals
- Warm clothing and a waterproof jacket (especially during colder months)
- Sunglasses, cap, and warm hat (for colder months)
- Sunscreen and lip balm
- Personal toiletries and medications
- Flashlight, water bottle, and a camera
